Datamat buys control
in Malaysian Network Integrator
Confirms Commitment to Acquire Expertise & Market Share
Bangkok, May 23, 2002:
Datamat today entered into an agreement to purchase controlling
equity interest in Malaysian network integrator ET Communications
(ETComm), a provider of performance enhancing solutions to the telecommunications
and data communications industry. The Kuala Lumpur based company
specializes in design, deployment and management of network infrastructure.
ETComm reported revenues
of RM30.6 million (BHT 345.7 million baht) and pre-tax profit of
RM 2.2 million (THB 24.85 million) last year. The company has forecast
more than 50% growth in both top and bottom line figures during
the current year, which ends in September.
"We are very excited
to play a leading role in the Datamat vision to create competitive
enterprises through innovative solutions in Asia", said KS
Goh, CEO for ET Comm. "We like the feel of the new Datamat
and have confidence that our domain expertise in networks will help
to shape and drive the collective success."
Datamat focuses on systems
and technology integration, network infrastructure design and delivery
and enterprise application development and implementation. It also
provides complete customer support functions through development
services, outsourcing, and maintenance.
According to management
of the two companies, ET Comm will continue to operate as a separate
entity but will participate with Datamat in bidding for and implementing
network solutions in Thailand, Malaysia and beyond. Additionally,
ET Comm presents Datamat with market share and market access in
Malaysia through which it can extend its expertise in financial
services, public sector work and enterprise applications.
Khun Manoo Ordeedolchest,
President and CEO of Datamat said, "This is a significant step
in fulfilling our commitment to enhance Datamat by acquiring profitable
companies that add depth and expertise in one of the fastest growing
sectors of our business". He added, "ET Comm is clearly
a leader in the field and have a proven track record in Malaysia,
with installations in Thailand and the Philippines already."
When questioned about acquiring a Malaysian business,
Khun Manoo replied, "ET Comm is already stretching out of Malaysia.
They have done work in Thailand and will do more. Datamat will provide
them with a greater platform and they will provide us with a depth
of expertise and experience in network infrastructure that would
take us years to replicate. Its just too good an opportunity to
pass up for both companies."
